MoonSue Vintage – Antiques – Lladro

Lladró sculptures embody romanticism and touching human emotion that connect collectors across the world. The sculptures are handcrafted in Valencia, Spain, the only Lladró factory in the world. The history of Lladró finds its foundation in the passion of three brothers, Juan, José, and Vicente Lladró, three artists who made porcelain into a way of life. With their first plates, vases, and ceramic figures, with recognizable elongated lines, they built an empire out of a small business originating in their village Almàssera.

They introduced the revolutionary single-firing method and brand-marking pastel colors for their work. They entered the American market in 1965, after founding a training school to recruit qualified artists and technicians, to produce the specialized style marking their brand, Rosal. Further hallmarks are the indications of a life of romanticism, charm, and innocence in an undefined idyllic time.

The business continued to grow throughout the 1980’s, expanding into Asia as well, and opening their first museum and gallery in New York City in 1988. In the 90’s Lladró shifted again, incorporating bright floral compositions with painstaking attention to detail represented by the know-how of the Lladró artists. They also won awards in the late 90’s for internationalization and competitiveness. There have been more than 100,000 collectors of the brand, according to the Lladró Collectors’ Society, founded in 1985. Every piece is made with the highest standards, and a gift of Lladró artwork is synonymous with celebration and joy your loved ones will value and treasure forever.
